How is a player’s Individual Ranking calculated?
The SNP ranking is individual, and all matches in the competition count toward the ranking, except for the National Playoff and the International Master. There is a ranking for each category (Grand Slam, 1,000, 500, and Future) both at the zonal level and at the national level.
The SNP ranking is a score between 0 and 100,000 that each player has in each category in which they have participated. It is calculated based on the player’s results over a complete season, which includes part of the current season and any remaining matches from the previous season that are played in the current season. The ranking is updated as matches or phases of the competition are played, replacing the results from the previous season with those of the current season in the same phase or round.
Scoring system:
According to the result of each match, points are added individually as follows:
- 3-point match won in 2 sets = 6 points
- 3-point match won in 3 sets = 5 points
- 3-point match lost in 3 sets = 3 points
- 3-point match lost in 2 sets = 2 points
- 3-point match played = 1 extra point
- 2-point match won in 2 sets = 5 points
- 2-point match won in 3 sets = 4 points
- 2-point match lost in 3 sets = 2 points
- 2-point match lost in 2 sets = 1 point
Based on the team result, each participant also receives additional points, which are added to their individual match points:
- Each player in the winning team of the tie: 1 extra point
- Each player in a team with a 4-point tie in the tie: 0.5 extra point
- Members of the losing team: 0 points
For ranking points, the quotient resulting from the number of points earned divided by the maximum number of points that can be obtained in the matches (8 points per match) will be considered, and this quotient is then multiplied by 100,000. If a player has played 4 matches or fewer, the ranking score quotient will be calculated by dividing the points obtained by the player by the maximum possible points from a total of 4 matches. For example, if a player has played only one match and earned 2.5 points out of the maximum 8, the ranking score would be:
(2.5/32)×100,000=7,812.5 points
If the player continues playing and achieves the same results in the next 3 matches, the ranking score would be:
(10/32)×100,000=31,250 points
SNP INDIVIDUAL RANKING CALCULATION SYSTEM
- For players who have played fewer than 4 matches:
(Sum of points earned by the player/32)×100,000*
For players who have played 4 or more matches:
(Sum of points earned by the player/ Max. points available in the ties)×100,000
In the case of the Zonal Ranking, if two players are tied, the player in the higher division within the same category will prevail. If the tie persists, or in the case of a tie in the National Ranking, the player with the greater number of matches played will prevail.
If the tie still persists, the difference between sets won and lost by the tied players will be used as a tiebreaker. If the tie continues, the difference between games won and lost by the tied players will be considered. If necessary, the difference between games won and lost by the teams of the tied players will be used as the final tiebreaker.
RANKING IN CASE OF A TEAM NOT SHOWING UP:
- Ranking in the case of 1 pair not showing up: The 3 pairs will score normally as if there was no absence. The team that did not appear will be considered as having lost 6-0, 6-0.
- Ranking in the case of 2 pairs not showing up: The 3 pairs will score normally, all as if the matches were 6-0, 6-0.
RANKING UPDATE COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS EDITION:
Each time a round of the Group Stage is completed, and at the end of the Zonal Playoff bracket, points will be updated using the system of defending points obtained in the corresponding round or phase of the previous edition. That is, points earned in the previous edition will be replaced by those obtained in the current edition.
